Arturo Castañares

Arturo Castañares is the Publisher and Editor-at-Large of La Prensa America. Castañares, 50, joined La Prensa in September 2015 after more than 25 years of work in politics, government, and business. Castañares writes his own Perspective opinion pieces on various issues, in addition to news articles focused on government and politics. In 2021, Castañares won the prestigious Ruben Salazar Award for Excellence in Print Journalism and this year was awarded 1st Place in the Politics/Government category by the San Diego Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Previously, Castañares was a senior staff member for the California State Legislature for 13 years, and earned an impressive winning record as a political consultant to dozens of campaigns for local, state, and federal offices. Castañares, born in San Diego, grew up as a bilingual, bicultural resident of the Cali-Baja megaregion of Southern California and Baja California.
