Otay Ranch Town Center Band Review and Community Festival

    The Parade Band Foundation, along with the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce is proud to present its first annual “Otay Ranch Town Center Band Review & Community Festival”, to be held on November 13, 2010 at the Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista. 

    This is a signature event for the City of Chula Vista that combines the American Spirit of parade with marching bands’ pageantry through competition, together with a Community Festival showcasing various live entertainment, family activities, and cultural event in a unique venue where everyone can dine and shop. Along with other dignitaries, the Guest of Honor will be Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox, who will be handing out the top prize of the day to the Best Marching Band. Marching Bands from the Sweetwater Union High School District and throughout San Diego County will be competing for prizes and awards. 

    Performing groups in the community festival will the popular groups Rising Star Band, Graceland, the Eastlake High School Show Choir and many more. Admission is free to the Festival and Parade. There is ample parking at the Otay Ranch Town Center, which is located between Olympic Parkway and Birch Street at the intersection of Eastlake Parkway in southeastern Chula Vista just off the SR-125 Toll Road. The Parade takes place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM while the Community Festival will be from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in, and around the Otay Ranch Town Center.

Centennial Photo Contest

    In celebration of the City of Chula Vista’s 100th anniversary in 2011, the Chula Vista Heritage Museum is sponsoring a centennial photo contest. The contest is intended to capture unique images of the community and the essence of life in Chula Vista. Entries will be showcased and added to the Chula Vista Library’s Historic Photos’ link on the library’s website. The contest aims to help preserve images and reminders of Chula Vista for future generations.

    Photos must be taken within the Chula Vista city limits between November 15, 2010 and April 30, 2011. Entry forms and contest rules may be downloaded from the library’s web-site at www.chulavista library.com. Winners will be awarded the following cash prizes: Grand Prize $150, 1st Place $125,2nd Place $75, and 3rd Place $50.
