The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC), the premier organization promoting the development of Hispanic entrepreneurs and emerging Latino businesses in California, announced highlights and attractions of its upcoming Annual Convention scheduled for August 14-16 in Oakland.

Headline speakers include branding expert and author Richard Montañez, the creator of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and author of “A Boy, a Burrito, and a Cookie.” Montañez will participate in the Convention’s Business Success Stories Live Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 16, moderated by syndicated Ruben Navarrette of The Washington Post Writers Group.

Acclaimed singer and percussionist Sheila E, Monica Gil, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations of the Nielsen Company, and Xavier A. Gutierrez, President and Chief Investment Officer of The Meruelo Group, top the slate of speakers.

Convention entertainment includes the legendary The Family Stone, with three original members of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Sly and The Family Stone. Comedians Gilbert Esquivel and Cristela Alonzo will also perform.

“We are extremely excited to bring an excellent group of business leaders and entertainers for our historic celebration,” said Ernie Gutierrez, chairman of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.

More than 3,000 small-business advocates, corporate representatives and entrepreneurs will attend the convention. The convention theme and opening plenary, “CHCC 35th Anniversary A Legacy of Latino Leadership: Building America’s Business Future,” will celebrate the history of the chamber’s leadership, reflect on accomplishments and promote the growth of Latino-owned businesses in California and their contributions to the overall statewide economy.

The three-day convention will have specific day themes. Latino Enterprise Day will focus on small-business growth to enhance your business brand. Latina Impresario Day will offer Latina entrepreneurs inspirational and educational panels and workshops. Corporate Partnership Day highlights the business partnership between Corporate America and Latino-owned companies.

A CHCC Town Hall, “State of Hispanic America – California 2013 & Beyond, Translating Numbers Into Power and Influence,” is among the various timely and critical session topics held throughout the Convention.

“The conference will honor the accomplishments of Latino-owned businesses, while helping many small-business owners with the information and other critical details they need to survive and thrive,” said Mark Martinez, president and CEO of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce.
