CVLCC Students to Help Raise Funds for Students a World Away

   Students at Chula Vista Learning Community Charter School (CVLCC) are hostng the annual “Super Big Give Charity Festival,” an annual school fundraiser that benefits students a world away. The festival is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, May 14 at CVLCC, located at 590 K Street, in Chula Vista. All festival proceeds go toward the development of schools, irrigation systems, and other needs in the village of Domeabra, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Proposition X Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to Fill Vacancies

South Bay Union School District parent representative and community member sought

   The South Bay Union School District (SBUSD) is currently seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in serving as a parent representative and community-at-large representative on its Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. The committee members will oversee the expenditure of Prop X, the $59.4 million school safety and repair bond currently modernizing the District’s schools.

Southwestern Community College Seeking Applicants for Citizens’ Oversight Committee

   The Board of Trustees (the “Board”) of the Southwestern Community College District is seeking qualified, interested individuals to serve on a committee of community leaders which will serve as the independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee (“COC”) for the implementation Proposition R Bond program. This open application period is to replace a community representative at-large, a business community representative, and a student representative.

   Completed applications should be sent or faxed by 4:30 PM on June 10, 2010. Application can be obtained by e-mailing jruiz@swccd.edu.

Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey Picks Up Overseas Postage Tab in Support of Armed Forces Day

   In honor of Armed Forces Day, Dignity Memorial® provider Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey will pay the postage on letters to overseas U.S. troops on Friday, May14 and Monday, May 17. Armed Forces Day is Saturday, May 16. Letters must be brought to Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey at 753 Broadway, Chula Vista CA 91910 between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
