SAN MARCOS

—  California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) has arranged for an impressive line-up of entertainers for its 20th anniversary Platinum Ball on Saturday, June 26, from 6 to 11 p.m. on the beautiful Kellogg Plaza at CSUSM.

The uniquely talented performing troupe from Eye of Newt Circus will provide inspired entertainment that combines artistic excellence with a sense of levity in all its definitions. Eye of Newt consistently stretches the boundaries of theatrical circus and has produced original theater pieces including the critically lauded “Figments” and the recently produced “Tutto Bene.”

Meanwhile, Saldo, a collective of circus performers created by Elisabeth and Jena Carpenter, will defy gravity and delight the audience with their hand balancing act. Saldo has been creating and performing artistic circus acts for shows and events for the last six years. They were featured in the acclaimed show ‘Figments’ where they worked with artists from Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Diavolo Dance Company, and the Pickle Family Circus to create acts and a unique theatrical circus production. Saldo continues to create and perform duo and trio acts in the air and on the ground together.

Named the number one live event band in Los Angeles by MyFoxLA.com, guests at the CSUSM Platinum Ball will have a blast dancing and kicking up their heels to the Martini Kings. The Martini Kings will bring their unique brand of retro classics, jazzy standards, bossa novas, and cool instrumental and vocal hits to the dance floor.

CSUSM is also pleased to announce that Channel 8 News Anchor Barbara Lee Edwards is this year’s Mistress of Ceremonies. Edwards is co-anchor for News 8 at 5:00, 6:30, and 11:00 p.m. every weeknight. She also tackles the latest medical issues, breakthroughs and discoveries in her exclusive “Health Alert” reports.

Individual tickets are on sale now for $300. Multiple sponsorships are available. Proceeds support professional development for faculty, research, student scholarships and services at the university.

For more information and ticket sales, visit: www.csusm.edu/gala or contact Arlene Cratsa at 760-750-4408, rarlene@csusm.edu.
