Encinitas Guitar Orchestra Christmas Concert, Dec 18

The Encinitas Guitar Orchestra (www.encinitasguitar orchestra.com) will be presenting a Christmas concert that includes traditional & lesser known gems of music along with an excerpt of Vivaldi’s Concerto in D major. The guitar orchestra is in it’s 5th year and is excited to present their first holiday concert. The members of the orchestra are comprised of beginning, intermediate and advanced players with each part arranged for corresponding levels of ability. Together it’s an amazing sound much like a giant harp. Friday, December 18, 2009, 8pm. “An Old-Fashioned Christmas” fundraiser concert against child abuse – Dec 18 in Carlsbad

North County’s local talents invite you to “An Old-Fashioned Christmas” at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, a concert to benefit Casa De Amparo, Oceanside’s child development center and shelter serving abused children and families in San Diego through group therapy, family therapy and child abuse prevention. The concert will take place at Carlsbad Women’s Club, 3320 Monroe St., 92008, across the street from Carlsbad High School.

Enjoy your favorite Christmas and Chanukah songs featuring North County’s local singers and musicians. Join them for a sing-a-long opportunity and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies.

Please bring a gift for a “Casa Kid” as an entry fee. Suggestions include gift cards, photo albums, personal toiletries, games, puzzles, etc. There will also be a free will offering collected. Proceeds will be donated to Casa De Amparo treating and preventing child abuse and neglect.
