The golf tournament hosted by the Latino American Political Association was a big success due to the work and support of (left to right) Derry Pence, Port of SD Ship Repair Assoc., Frank Peralta, John Crispin, Tony Millan, and Chula Vista Deputy Mayor, Rudy Ramirez.

The Logan Heights Veterans Memorial is well on its way to completion but before there can be an unveiling, scheduled for November 11, 2012 at Chicano Park, there are dollars that need to be raised to pay for the memorial stone itself, $24,000 to be exact.

To reach this fundraising goal the Don Diego Post 7420 has held several fundraisers, a dance and golf tournament, at which the community has enthusiastically supported.

Special thanks has to go out to the USS Midway Museum, Gonzales-Northgate Market and John Rivera, Sycuan, Viejas, and the Valley View Casinos for supporting the kick-off celebration. The golf tournament was hosted by the Latino American Political Association president Ed Cer-vantes with the support of sponsors which included the Port of San Diego Ship Repair Association, the San Diego Padres, UC San Diego Health System, Fraternal Order of Police Officers Lodge 10, ES Power Golf, Echelon Real Estate, and Coastal Tax and Financial.
