The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary (www.recruitmilitary.com) will present a free employment, entrepreneurship, and education event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in San Diego on Thursday, September 3. The event will be open to veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.

The Opportunity Expo will be the 47th of 68 such events scheduled for 2009. An all-star team of veteran-friendly organizations will conduct one-on-one interviews with the job seekers—organizations that will include corporate employers, law-enforcement agencies and other government employers, franchisors, educational institutions, veterans service agencies, and veterans associations. Already in the line-up are AFLAC, Ashford University, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, the California Department of Veterans Affairs, the City of Los Angeles, Coleman University, Cuy-amaca College, the Dallas Police Department, Delta Connection Academy, DeVry University, Education Corporation of America—Virginia College, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Home Depot, Home Helpers, Interfaith Community Services, ITT Technical Institute, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Press-A-Print, SC Field Technical Services, Inc., Schlumberger, Schwan’s Home Services, Inc., Seniors Helping Seniors, Southern California Edison Company, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service (VR&E) of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Wackenhut Corporation, and Waste Management.
