Professional photographer, Jon Lowenstein, will be the featured presenter for “Shadowlives USA: Photojournalism in the U.S.-Mexico Context.” There will be an open exhibition followed by a presentation by Mr. Lowenstein in which he will examine how the media, and particularly his work, interacts with current issues affecting the U.S.Mexico border relationship. Mr. Lowenstein specializes in long-term, in-depth projects that confront the realms of power, poverty, and violence.  As a documentary photographer, he strives for unsparing clarity, and believes images make a critical contribution by revealing the subjects of history that lack voice.  At the core of the work, and by his own admission, is a lighted love of people. He has won several awards including, 2008 Alicia Patterson Fellow and a 2007 World Press Photo Award.
