Regional Leaders to Address Concerns, Controversy and Solutions for South County

What: The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) will host its 19th Annual Economic Summit, which focuses on a wide array of issues affecting economic progress and regional development in the South County and border regions.

The summit will feature a special breakfast keynote speaker, U.S. Secretary of Labor, Honorable Hilda L. Solis, followed by a luncheon and awards ceremony in addition to the panel discussion, debates and presentations.

Summit highlights to include keynote speakers including: In addition to Secretary Solis, the event will feature Macys Inc. Chairman, President and CEO, Terry J. Lundgren, Congressman Bob Filner, Assemblymember Mary Salas, Tijuana Mayor Jorge Ramos, San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders.

The daylong summit will feature a noteworthy panel discussion entitled The Future of Our Bi-National Region. Panel participants will include Congressman Bob Filner; Assemblymember Mary Salas, 79th District; Mayor Cheryl Cox, Chula Vista; Mayor Ron Morrison, National City; Mayor Jim Janney, Imperial Beach; Mayor Pablo Alejo Lopez Nuqez, Ensenada; Mayor Rodolfo Valdez Gutierrez, Mexicali; Councilmember Crosthwaite Reyes, City of Rosarito; and, Mayor Donaldo Pegalosa, Tecate.
