Sweetwater School District to Honor Fallen Soldiers

Students who served inIraq and Afghanistanto be honored

Event: Sweetwater Union High School District will host a tribute to honor 10 graduates of district schools who died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Background: There are 10 former Sweetwater District students who have been killed since 2003 on the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The school board and superintendent seek to honor those heroes’ sacrifice by inviting their family members, local dignitaries and community members to the unveiling of a memorial plaque and recognition ceremony.

The ceremony will include remarks from two of the heroes’ mothers and brief introductions and photos of each of the fallen.

Date/Time: June 12, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Location: Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center, Eastlake High School, 1120 Eastlake Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91915.
