The 20th Annual Adelante Mujer Conference is an all day celebration focused on inspiring a higher percentage of Latinas to continue their education beyond high school. Hosted by a committee of educators and community members from five districts within the South Bay, the Adelante Mujer Conference will provide various breakout presentations by professional Women who serve as exceptional examples for younger Latinas. The festivities will include a small breakfast, several workshops, lunch and entertainment.

This year’s Adelante Mujer Conference will celebrate its 20th anniversary at Eastlake Middle School on Saturday March 2, 2013 from 7:45 am – 2:00 pm. The Conference is open to young girls in grades 6th-12th and any female role model they have in their life. Last year approximately 800 students attended the event. The Conference recognizes an inspirational community member as “Latina of the Year” and also awards a scholarship to an outstanding Latina senior who has maintained a high grade point average while being actively involved in her community. The presentations highlight the importance of taking pride in one’s culture while making positive decisions to attain economic self-sufficiency. Adelante Mujer presents an opportunity to maintain and strengthen the connection between students, schools and the community. This conference demonstrates what one can achieve with a post-secondary education and the quality of life that may bring.
