Homework Center to Showcase Free Student Services

Homework Center empowers at-risk youth through academic development

The Neighborhood House Association’s Homework Center will host an open house to present underserved elementary, middle and high school students with a safe after-school study environment. The open house will familiarize students with the center’s services including: free access to computers, tutoring, transportation and healthy snacks. Attendees will enter to win movie tickets and other prizes.

Students of low-income families have limited access to afterschool academic resources. NHA’s Homework Center aims to provide students with much needed support while enhancing educational opportunities in an effort to avoid academic deficiency. NHA’s objective is to empower the community through on-going youth education, leadership and development.

Burning Man Film Festival Returns for Third Year

The San Diego Burning Man community invites you to its third annual Regional Burning Man Film Festival. The perfect starting point for the burner-curious, as well as a welcome reminder to long-time burners, the festival offers something for everyone!

Continuing to evolve from past festivals, this year’s festival features a new venue, The Center for Amusing Arts and Technomania Circus, located at 2558 Imperial Avenue, between 25th and 26th street. The collection of short and feature length films about the annual Nevada art and culture festival known as Burning Man will show from 11 AM to 11 PM on March 10th, 2012. Also featured will be local performers and artisans from the San Diego Burning Man community.
